Define

A first step for any successful project or effort is to define the decision-makers and stakeholders involved both initially and long-term. Identification of key individuals and building consensus early on is often critical to success. Getting these individuals on the same page relative to expectations and clear understanding of the organization's challenges is an important first step. Clearly defining challenges and exploration of options is important as well. Depending on needs, this step may include:

Preliminary audit of materials and programs
Focus groups
Collaborative goal setting
Facilitated meetings to build consensus, better define challenges, goals
